Job Description

  • As a key member of the Student Life Unit, the Wellbeing Officer provides a wide range of a professional comprehensive psychological support to students in need.
  • S/He will provide mentoring and counselling to students through one-on-one sessions conducted on campus, or virtually via online sessions.
  • S/He will organize psychoeducation training programs, workshops, and seminars and public lectures for students, featuring renowned professionals in the field, as well as workshops, trainings, and support groups, in an incessant effort to promote a culture of mental health and wellness for all members of UH-GAF community.
  • S/He will provide psychological guidance and support, as well as personal counselling services with appropriate assessment and psychotherapy plan for students and maintain updated records and case notes in accordance with legal, ethical, and professional standards of mental healthcare.
  • S/He will facilitate professional workshops and seminars for faculty and staff to recognize and handle students in distress.
  • Assist the admissions team with new intake interviews, administer psychometric and personality tests and suggest other appropriate criteria for selection.
  • S/He will perform psychiatric evaluation, therapy, and follow up on student with mental-health cases.
  • S/He will also liaison with other mental health providers to ensure offering the best practices and services for UH-GAF community.

Job Requirements

  • The ideal candidate should hold a degree in Psychology or Psychiatry from an accredited university, possess an understanding of Egyptian and British university practices and have relevant experience working in a higher education setting, preferably in an international office. An advanced degree in Psychology is an asset. 
  • 3 - 5 years of experience, (preferably with an MA or MSc).
  • Applicants must maintain records in a discreet and professional manner.
  • S/he must demonstrate excellent communication and organizational skills, initiative, a thorough understanding of the Egyptian culture and youth issues, the ability to work independently with limited supervision, and should possess strong interpersonal skills and the capacity to work effectively with a variety of offices and stakeholders. Must be available to work occasional evenings and weekends and participate in an on-call rotation.
