- The basic function of the Microbiology Section Head/Manager is to conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis of the production environment and its vis-à-vis materials along with finished products according to the prevailing governing guidelines (cGMP, Policies, SOPs, etc ) as per the following details:
- Designation: Microbiology Section Head/Manager (subject to experience)
Location: New Cairo HQ

Reporting: QC Manager - A. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and analyze samples to determine microbiological quality through the following analyses: Microbial enumeration methods, absence of specified microorganisms, endotoxin, and water quality analysis
- Ensure change controls, quality deviations, out of specification results and quality / business risks associated with area of responsibility are appropriately investigated, reviewed, mitigated and closed out
- Provide guidance and subject matter expertise for issues related to microbiological safety risk assessments
- Facilitate team compliance via quality systems such as change control, CAPA and deviation investigations. Support daily laboratory operations, including resolution of test schedule conflicts, review of data, assisting analysts in troubleshooting activities and incident investigations
- Ensure the laboratory is maintained in an audit ready state at all times and represent the department during audits/inspections as a subject matter expert
- Ensure all work performed is performed in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices, Regulations of the Regulatory Bodies, Company, and Pharmacopeial Methodologies
- Confer with Quality Assurance and Lab Management to design and/or improve standard operating procedures and/or training programs
- Conduct root cause analysis and implements solutions in collaboration with the concerned team members
- Perform system maintenance and calibration to ensure equipment is operating within specified requirements
- Devise and develop processes and methods for the solution of technical problems
- Maintain quality performance metrics, conducts routine metrics review and root cause analysis in collaboration with chemists and laboratory management
Job Requirements
B. Qualification/Knowledge/Experience:
- Bachelor Degree required in Microbiology/Biological Sciences with>8 years' of industry experience
- Experience in a cGMP/Quality environment
- Experience of routine QC operations, including testing and documentation practice
- Audit/Inspection AND Method Validation experience
- Knowledge of microbiological techniques including sterility, bioburden, microbial identification and environmental monitoring.
- Minimum 3 years' experience as a manager with direct reports (i.e. experience in performance reviews, scheduling tasks and project assignments)
