Job Description
- To ensure the long-term sustainability and reliability of the power station, it is essential to onboard a Power Station Mechanical Specialist who will work alongside the current expat mechanical specialist. It is crucial to have a long-term transition plan for local talent. The new hire will:
- Work closely with the expat specialist to gain hands-on experience in power plant mechanical systems.
- Develop skills to eventually take over key responsibilities, ensuring knowledge retention within the organization
- Reduce dependency on expat specialists over time, contributing to a cost-effective and sustainable workforce strategy.
- Ensure correct practices and procedures are carried out during mechanical maintenance as per OEM specifications.
- Delegate tasks.
- Utilise PC-based applications (Mainpac, Excel, etc.) to plan workloads and strategies (training/supervision required).
- Ensure that health, safety and environmental policies are followed.
- Ensure SWP’s are understood and followed at all times whilst carrying out maintenance tasks.
- Ensure all mandatory training is completed and the correct level of attainment is reached and maintained.
- Ensure the performance of subordinates is of a high standard.
- Take appropriate action to resolve conflicts.
- Ensure health, safety & environmental policies are strictly adhered to.
- Is aware and up to date with the current health, safety & environmental policies.
- Regularly participate in toolbox meetings.
- Identify and report hazards in the workplace.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Power Plant Technology, or a related field.
- Deep understanding of MAK (CAT), Wartsila, Cummins engines.
- Minimum 5-10 years of experience in mechanical maintenance within a power plant or heavy industrial environment.
- Proficiency in mechanical troubleshooting, alignment, and overhauls.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and OEM manuals.

- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and report-writing skills.
- High attention to detail and safety consciousness
