Job Description
Academics:
- Plan and implement age-appropriate curricular activities based on The Creative Curriculum.
- Manage and coach teaching assistants and class helpers.
- Regularly observe and evaluate children's development and progress.
- Create weekly learning summaries to be sent out to parents.
- Ensure school readiness for graduating children in leading international schools.
Emotional Wellbeing:
- Ensure emotional wellbeing of students.
- Identify and report problem behaviors requiring professional intervention to the Nursery Manager.
Physical Wellbeing:
- Ensure the safety of each child enrolled in the class.
- Keep the number of accidents at a minimum.
Interaction with Children:
- Serve as a role model for children in attitude, speech, and actions.
- Encourage children's development in self-confidence, problem-solving, and responsibility.
- Interact with each child daily through various activities.
- Enforce classroom discipline through positive behavior management techniques.
Relationships with Parents:
- Respect the cultural differences and socioeconomic diversity of all parents.
- Greet parents daily with a warm smile and positive comment about their child.
- Communicate with the Nursery Manager daily.
- Report accidents or incidents to the Nursery Manager and Director.
Supporting Staff Relationship:
- Attend all scheduled staff meetings and pre-planning sessions.
- Complete all training provided by The Creative Curriculum.
- Receive infant/child CPR and first aid training.
Administrative Functions:
- Maintain promptness in arrival time every morning.
- Inspect the school site and equipment for potential safety hazards and take corrective action or inform the Nursery Manager and Director.
Job Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.
- Previous experience in teaching young children in a classroom setting.
- Knowledge of and experience with age-appropriate curriculums and teaching methods.
- Ability to create lesson plans and learning objectives based on the curriculum.
- Knowledge of child development and experience observing and evaluating children's progress.
- First aid and CPR certification.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with children, parents, and staff members.
- Patience, creativity, and adaptability to work with a diverse group of children with varying needs and abilities.
- Ability to maintain a safe and nurturing classroom environment.
- A passion for working with young children and helping them develop socially, emotionally, and academically.
