PURPOSE OF THE POST

• Provide outpatient medical care to in-scope patients according to adapted knowledge, MSF protocols, values, and universal hygiene standards to improve the patient’s health conditions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

GENERAL

• Treat all the patients with the maximum respect, independently form race, origin, religious or political belonging, acknowledging that any abuse of authority or power will not be tolerated and will lead to the termination of the contract.
• Be able to work in the clinic in a collegial way, as part of a team with other medical and non-medical staff, as well with supervisors and expatriate team, to ensure a more efficient patient workflow. Acknowledge that any disrespectful attitude towards any of the abovementioned staff will not be tolerated and will lead to the termination of the contract.
• Apply medical knowledge and skills to examine, assess, diagnose, and treat outpatient consultations, prescribing the necessary treatment respecting the MSF protocols
• Assisting his/her colleagues when needed and asked.
• Keep the patient and/or his/her family informed about the illness and provide appropriate explanations about the treatment plan and to make sure that they have fully understood the dosage of medications and special instructions
• Directly participating in emergencies and being on call if needed.
• Ability to offer basic PFA to all patients and patients’ safety check and communicates outcome to psychology, social workers for more comprehensive care
• Work in the clinic as a team with other medical providers as well as non-medical staff to ensure a better more efficient patient workflow

• Refer patients to appropriate areas of specialties in medicine if needed
• Coordinates with the MD Supervisor and Medical case Management Unit regarding any special cases that need to be referred outside the clinic
• Follow up on patients who are admitted to our referral hospitals if they require admissions like surgery, communicate with the attending physician regarding the patients’ case and try to have discharge prescriptions that are under MSF standard list
• Active participation in the multidisciplinary team to optimize the quality of care, as well as participate in training sessions that will update the medical knowledge and skills to be better equipped in managing specialized cases
• Knows and ensures all MSF medical protocols are followed and implemented; checking universal precautions are always followed.

• Follows MSF Clinical guidelines and prescribes medication according to the approved MSF standard list and to be able to medically justify any diversion from the protocols and standard list
• Always guarantees patient-doctor confidentiality and ensures the whole medical team does the same
• Follow all MSF protocol on treating, and documenting all medical cases, making sure all appropriate documents are filled up correctly
• Ability to convey the necessary information for medical advocacy on the behalf of the patient
• Actively participates in the provision of medical report for patient when necessary
• Willing to participate and present case studies in the clinic on a regular basis to share medical knowledge and to analyze data to improve patient care and quality control
• Collaborates with the nursing staff professionally in providing medical care to patients when necessary.
• participates in the different meetings held by the medical team, other departments or by the project management team
