Job Description

  • Engage with the Sukari Leadership Team, relevant regulatory authorities, and external actors to strengthen Sukari’s social license to operate and to ensure legal compliance with its social responsibilities. 
  • Evaluate the sustainability risks and opportunities associated with the Sukari operation and Life of Mine with due consideration to group-level policy and standards. Collaborate with the Sukari Leadership Team to develop social risk mitigation measures and ensure these are effectively integrated into site-level operational systems and practice.
  • Through engagement with internal and external actors, develop initiatives that enhance the socio-economic benefits arising from Sukari’s presence in the Red Sea Governorate and Egypt more broadly, not limited to local economic participation, professional development training, diversity, inclusion, and community development. 
  • Strengthen the social component of Sukari’s existing integrated HSES management system including accompanying strategy, plans, standard operating procedures, communication, training, and budget. 
  • Coordinate preparation of routine site-level sustainability reporting against defined objectives and targets.
  • Oversees the overall execution, mission, and effectiveness of the sustainability program.
  • Proposes and implements strategies to address various environmental concerns including energy use, conservation, reduction of pollution, recycling, building, and facility design, and general education on sustainability.
  • Implement and own innovation process to continuously generate ideas from within our business on sustainability
     

Job Requirements

  • Higher degree in Sustainability / Social Development. 
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in a position of leadership on matters of sustainability and social performance.
  • Experience in the development and implementation of an integrated HSES management system relevant to the minerals or similar heavy industrial sectors.
  • Familiarity with good international industry practice and trends, including knowledge of the Egyptian regulatory context, as relevant to the sustainability and social development sector.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with management and technical work teams, business partners, and external actors to develop social improvement programs
  • Strong leadership, communication, and presentation skills are required
  • Exemplary communication skills and fluency in Arabic and English
