Job Description
- Track and monitor project costs to ensure alignment with approved budgets.
- Analyze cost variances and recommend corrective actions to stay within budget constraints.
- Assist in the preparation of project budgets and cost estimates during the planning phase.
- Update project budgets based on actual costs incurred and anticipated future expenses.
- Prepare regular financial reports, including cost-to-complete, cash flow forecasts, and budget variance analysis.
- Provide accurate and timely financial information to project managers and senior management.
- Develop and implement cost control procedures to improve financial efficiency.
- Review and validate all cost-related documents, including purchase orders, invoices, and subcontractor payments.
- Evaluate the financial impact of change orders, variations, and scope changes.
- Work closely with the project team to ensure changes are properly documented and reflected in the project budget.
- Review contracts and agreements to ensure cost-related terms and conditions are met.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, contractual obligations, and industry standards.
- Perform monthly and quarterly reconciliations of cost accounts to maintain accurate financial records.
- Investigate discrepancies and take corrective actions to resolve any accounting issues.
- Work closely with project managers, procurement teams, and other stakeholders to manage project costs effectively.
- Provide financial insights to support decision-making and project planning.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in cost control accounting within the construction industry.
- Proficient in accounting software and tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle, MS Excel).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of construction contracts, project management principles, and cost control methodologies.
- Experience with large-scale construction projects.
- Familiarity with financial forecasting and budgeting tools.
