Job Description

Job Summary
The Quality Control Analyst in a fertilizers and chemical factory is responsible for ensuring that all raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods meet quality standards and regulatory requirements. This role involves conducting chemical and physical tests, analyzing samples, and working closely with production teams to maintain consistent product quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

Sampling and Testing:

  • Collect and test samples of raw materials, intermediate products, and finished goods according to established protocols.
  • Perform chemical, physical, and instrumental analysis (e.g., titration, chromatography, spectroscopy).
  • Monitor parameters such as pH, moisture content, particle size, and nutrient composition of fertilizers.

Process Monitoring:

  • Conduct real-time quality checks during production to ensure processes are within specified control limits.
  • Collaborate with production teams to identify and address deviations promptly.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of testing results and observations.
  • Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly quality reports to management.
  • Document non-conformances and recommend corrective actions.

Compliance and Standards:

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001, REACH).
  • Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices.

Problem Identification and Resolution:

  • Investigate and analyze product quality issues, identifying root causes.
  • Recommend and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

Equipment Calibration and Maintenance:

  • Ensure all testing equipment is regularly calibrated and maintained to ensure accurate results.
  • Troubleshoot issues with laboratory equipment as needed.

Safety and Environmental Responsibility:

  • Adhere to workplace safety protocols when handling hazardous chemicals and materials.
  • Support environmental compliance by monitoring waste and byproduct quality.

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of experience in quality control, preferably in the chemical or fertilizer industry.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in laboratory techniques and equipment (e.g., HPLC, GC, FTIR, AAS).
    • Familiarity with fertilizers’ key chemical properties (e.g., NPK analysis).
    • Knowledge of quality control standards and regulations.

Soft Skills:

  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork.

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily works in a laboratory environment with occasional exposure to manufacturing areas.
  • May involve exposure to chemicals, high temperatures, and loud noises (protective equipment provided).
  • Standing for extended periods and lifting light to moderate weights may be required.
