Job Summary:
Handles a range of accounting tasks under the supervision of senior accountants or accounting managers. This role involves supporting the accounting team with day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accurate record-keeping, preparing financial reports, and assisting in budgeting and audits. The Junior Accountant will be expected to have a foundational understanding of accounting principles and practices and will be learning and growing in their role with more responsibilities over time.
Tasks and responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements (balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements).
- Maintain general ledger entries, ensuring proper documentation and reconciliation of accounts.
- Post journal entries to the accounting system and reconcile discrepancies.
- Follow up on overdue accounts and ensure timely collection of receivables.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accurate records and proper reflection of transactions.
- Assist senior accountants in the preparation of management reports and financial analysis.
- Assist in tracking and accounting for inventory and fixed assets.
- Assist in internal audits and ensure compliance with company policies.
- Assist in the preparation of working papers for the external auditors.
- Ensure that accounting files and documents are properly organized and stored.
Job Requirements
Education and experience:
- Education: The bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field such as finance or business administration.
- Experiences:
- Practical experience in the same field at least 2 years
- Strong background in customer receivables follow up and recovery
- Advanced MS Excel skills including VLOOKUP’s and pivot tables etc.
