Job Description
- Collect cost information and maintain an expenses database
- Determine direct costs vs. indirect costs
- Plan and record direct costs (e.g. purchases of raw material and labor costs)
- Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual cost forecasts.
- Assisting in month-end and year-end closing
- Analyze and report profit margins
- Defining and recommending cost-effective solutions and directing the company's expenses.
- Collecting and analyzing data about a company’s operational costs
- Setting standard costs of manufactured goods
- Understand Operational and Production software to ensure that costs are recorded accurately
- Price finished products based on costing reports & market price analysis
- Play an active role in costing new products
- Performing ongoing reconciliations of various cost reports against software systems to ensure accuracy
- Performing physical inventory inspections and monitoring inventory management information systems
- Establish and maintain a database for row material inventory stock including up-to-date pricing.
- Establish and maintain a cost allocation transfer system for manufacturing supplies to the various departments. Summarize these transactions for each financial period close.
- Analyze actual manufacturing costs and preparing periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs
- Keep lines of communication open with suppliers and ensure that the products delivered to the warehouse are conforming to manufacturing standards and requirements and follow up with payable accountant to pay their bills on time.
- Stock reconciliations and co-ordination of stock takes and cycle counts
- Assisting in preparing budget reports (for the company and for each department separately).
- Providing management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products
- Carrying out cost-volume-profit (CVP) analysis
- Preparing audit reports and presenting their findings to management
- Recommending changes to the company’s processes and policies to reduce cost and maximize profit
Job Requirements
- BSc degree in Accounting or Finance (essential)
- 2-3 years of experience as a cost accountant in fashion and clothing industry is a preferred
- Experience with accounting software and ERP systems preferred
- Very good at Microsoft Office programs.
- Good Command of English
- Meticulous attention to detail with organizational skills.
- Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
