Overview:

The importance of a reviser’s role is to assure the quality of translated texts, ensure the application of certified translation principles and theories and maintain continuously updated references and dictionaries. In addition, a reviser has a leading role by being a good example for translators in terms of seriousness, focus, and accuracy. A reviser also shall maintain a high level of professional discipline and conducts.

Major Roles and Responsibilities

To revise translated texts from English into Arabic, and vice versa.
To guide and direct translators to the best methods for achieving a high level of translation.
To develop rules and glossaries for translators.
To assess translators’ performance based on assessment models developed by the Company.
To collaborate with the project manager (PM) for developing plans for translations, formats and designs.
To assign tasks to tasks to translators and follow implementation.
To assist in training, developing and supervising translators.
To lead the translation teams formed for handling the translation projects.
To develop and update productivity sheets for themselves and the translators.
To translate documents, if required.

Job Requirements

Skills and Abilities:

To have knowledge of written translation and translation theories and practices.
To have knowledge of collecting and managing terminologies and using styles and glossaries.
To maintain confidential information.
To manage relationships and communicate with his/her team members.
To have a full command of two languages at least, in addition to the mother tongue.
To have the skills of correcting misprints.
To be accurate and able to detect misspelling, grammatical errors and mispunctuations.
To be good at using content edit tools.
To have the ability to use different CAT tools.
To have the skills of prioritization and time management.

Functional Conditions

To hold a bachelor or master degree in translation from and into English, or in a similar field.
To master written and spoken English.
To master MS Office and the Internet search skills.
To master the following CAT tools: SDL TRADOS 2015 – MemoQ 2015 – Déjà vu X3.
To have a 5-years’ experience in proofreading.
