Purpose of the position

Financial auditors are responsible for ensuring that an organization is following proper accounting procedures and reporting accurate financial information. plan and engage in financial assessments of business processes, debts, and assets, and determine financial standings while ensuring that the best accounting and auditing practices are followed at all times. perform accounting analyses of organizations to assist with audit planning, error identification, and regulatory compliance. They determine whether aspects of businesses are properly valued and accounted for in business documents. They also check and verify business accounting through data-driven processes and analysis. They commonly perform audits on a regular basis, but they may also be called upon to investigate specific issues when something unusual happens.

  • A financial auditor is responsible for ensuring that a company's financial statements are in good order and in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Planning financial audits of businesses from start to finish.
  • Report to management about asset utilization and audit results, and recommend changes in operations and financial activities.
  • Collecting, preparing, and organizing physical and digital documentation for financial auditing processes.
  • Identifying key areas and issues for further investigation and analysis.
  • Evaluating figures, accounts, and statements with other auditing accountants, internal auditors, and tax officers.
  • Verifying documents, figures, and account details for auditing.
  • Design the auditing process using common standards of practice, company policies, business goals, and industry regulations.
  • Indicate areas where risk is found in order to generate a more complete picture of financial responsibility.
  • Recommending changes to the company’s accounting or auditing procedures based on findings from an audit
  • Prepare detailed reports on audit findings.
  • Analyze adherence to budgetary standards and guidelines using financial data and balance sheets.
  • Review all financial materials and procedures in order to spot errors, inefficiencies, or instances of misuse.
  • Document all internal processes within an audit; list all data sources; detail all conclusions after an investigation.
  • Reviewing company processes for compliance with laws and regulations, especially those related to accounting standards or ethics
  • Reviewing financial statements to determine whether they are accurate, identifying any errors or anomalies, and recommending corrections.
  • Monitoring the financial performance of a company to help detect possible signs of trouble
  • Financial auditors use analytical skills to assess a company's accounting and financial reports by testing the documentation of transactions that the company has provided.
  • Provide the information necessary to correct errors and accounting fraud.
  • Work to develop new standards of practice within a company in order to increase accounting accuracy and integrity.
  • Reflect on historical and current budgetary trends found in the data.
  • Assisting other stakeholders in determining valuations, figures, and projections.
  • Compiling and presenting findings in written and verbal forms to the Audit and Taxes manager. 
  • Recommending and advising on subsequent actions and processes to be undertaken by the business.
  • Provide assistance in the case of an outside firm’s auditing of the organization.
  • Keep all sensitive information confidential and secure.

Job Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • Certification as a Certified Auditor, Certified Financial Services Auditor, or similar.
  • At least 10 years of experience as a financial auditor, financial accountant, or financial analyst.
  • Proficiency in various computer programs related to accounting.
  • Certification as a certified public accountant (CPA) is a plus.
  • A thorough understanding of key areas such as risk, compliance, and financial legislation.
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting software such as Sage Pastel, SAP, or similar systems.
