Job Description
Automotive workshop engineers are responsible for the maintenance and repair of vehicles in a workshop setting. They work closely with technicians to diagnose problems, develop and implement solutions, and ensure that vehicles are returned to customers in a safe and reliable condition.
Job Duties
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems in vehicles.
- Develop and implement repair plans, including ordering and installing parts.
- Supervise and train technicians.
- Maintain workshop equipment and procedures.
- Ensure that vehicles are repaired in accordance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Work with suppliers to obtain the best pricing and availability of parts.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest automotive technologies and trends.
- Provide technical advice and support to customers.
- Answer questions about service outcomes, schedule and book appointments, vehicle drop-off and vehicle pick-up
- Provide customers with information and advice on warranty protections, potential cost savings and the advantages of trading in versus fixing their car
- Manage and oversee the dealership’s workflow and schedule
- Call customers to advise them about service changes or car pick-up times
- Maintain positive customer relationships to ensure repeat business
Job Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in automotive engineering or a related field.
- Experience working in an automotive workshop setting.
- Strong knowledge of automotive mechanics and electronics.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and specifications.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
