Job Description

Purpose of the position

Senior Procurement Engineer is responsible for procuring the company's supplies, researching and identifying prospective suppliers, evaluating offers considering key business criteria, and negotiating purchase agreements. Responsible for sourcing and purchasing the raw materials, equipment, and services that his company needs to operate. He commonly works with vendors, suppliers, and other third-party service providers to ensure they get the best deals possible on everything from office supplies to large machinery.

  • Analyzing and evaluating supplier performance
  • Developing and maintaining supplier relationships
  • Evaluating suppliers according to key business criteria.
  • Managing the procurement of products and services.
  • Receive the purchasing orders (POs), and contact the suppliers to provide the requested department with the requested materials within the delivery date in the PO and according to the procurement department’s SOPs.
  • Follow up on the status of the POs, and take action regarding the delayed PO to ensure the appropriate implementation of the procurement department’s SOPs.
  • Prepare proposals, request quotes, and negotiate purchase terms and conditions
  • Inspect and evaluate the quality of purchased items and resolve shortcomings.
  • Create purchase orders and tally these with supply requests and orders.
  • Analyze invoices to ensure the accuracy of goods delivered.
  • Monitor inventory to ensure the flow of goods remains positive.
  • Managing daily, monthly and quarterly reports.
  • Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues and concerns.
  • Inspect and evaluate the quality of purchased items and resolve shortcomings.
  • Ensuring compliance with all related laws and regulations.
  • Negotiate terms with suppliers such as price, quality of goods, deadlines, expectations, etc.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends and new products.
  • Compare available goods with industry trends to determine appropriate pricing.
  • Work closely with the projects team to understand details of procurement requirements. 
  • Liaising with internal project teams and maintaining strong supplier relations.
  • Purchase goods or services that meet the quantity and quality expectations of the organization.
  • Coordinating with other departments.
  • Developing and maintaining supplier relationships.

Job Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Civil/Electrical Engineering.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and business application software, purchasing and resource planning systems.
  • Previous experience in contracting field.
  • (7:10 years) Proven work experience as a procurement engineer or similar role.
  • Good working knowledge of purchasing strategies.
  • knowledge of the industry and market conditions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
