At Get tech force we help companies build their teams. We currently have over 35 remote developers in Egypt and are looking to expand our team now, by looking for 2 remote Java Swing Developers.
The role will be Monday to Friday - 9am to 5pm as the main development hub is in Europe.
It will be 100% remote, so you can work from where ever you want.
Most of the projects for this role fall under the maintenance category. The ratio of maintenance to new feature work is about 80:20.
● New projects often come from our internal compliance teams (i.e. adding new risk disclaimers).
● Various maintenance projects (i.e. migrating to a new API for fetching profile data).
● Potentially upgrading to a new version of Java.
● New security requirements (i.e. ensuring all requests support TLS 1.2, patching new exploits, etc).
● Renewing the signing certificate and integrating this with the build process.
● Handling support tickets and managing releases.

● The application is a frontend Java 8 app built using Java Swing.
● It's launched using a Java Applet, downloading the jar from GCP (simple nginx instance running in GKE).
● Communication to backend is via REST API.
● Build system running on CircleCI.
● Maven/Artifactory for library dependencies.
● It's a 20+ year old code base.
● Some features are web based, displayed via 3rd party tool called JxBrowser
● We're building out React Native components that also get displayed via JxBrowser (you don't need to know anything about React Native, but will be exposed to our integration on the Java side)
Additional Responsibilities
● If possible to get an intermediate candidate with the capacity to be more self directed, this would be a bonus. However, due to the possible difficulty given the older technology stack, we're open to interviewing strong Junior level candidates as well.
