Job Description

Job Summary:
As a Level Designer, you will be responsible for creating and optimizing game levels that are visually compelling, engaging, and align with our game mechanics and story objectives. You’ll collaborate closely with the design, art, and programming teams to deliver polished levels that offer players both challenge and enjoyment.

 

Key Responsibilities:
Design, Prototype, and Implement Levels: Build immersive and well-paced levels from concept to completion, including layout, environmental storytelling, and encounter design.
Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with game designers, artists, and programmers to ensure level designs are consistent with gameplay mechanics, aesthetics, and performance requirements.
Balance Gameplay Elements: Fine-tune levels for pacing, flow, difficulty, and player engagement, considering different player skill levels and play styles.
Iterate Based on Feedback: Gather and implement feedback from playtests, QA, and team reviews to continuously improve level quality and player experience.
Optimize for Performance: Ensure levels are optimized for smooth performance across platforms, taking into account memory and CPU limitations.
Documentation and Communication: Create and maintain documentation, level maps, and layout sketches, ensuring clear communication of design intent across the team.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:
Experience: 5+ years of professional experience as a Level Designer in the gaming industry.
Technical Skills: Proficiency with game engines (Unity) and level design tools; strong knowledge of 3D modeling software.
Design Knowledge: Solid understanding of game design principles, level flow, player psychology, and environmental storytelling.
Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to troubleshoot design issues and optimize levels to meet design, aesthetic, and technical standards.
Portfolio: A portfolio showcasing relevant level design work, with an emphasis on layout, gameplay flow, and problem-solving.
