Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team specializing in Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems, with a focus on HVAC, Firefighting, and Plumbing. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will lead and oversee the design, development, and implementation of MEP systems for a variety of projects, ensuring adherence to industry standards, codes, and client requirements. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and oversee the development of HVAC systems, including load calculations, equipment selection, ductwork design, and air distribution layouts, ensuring energy efficiency, comfort, and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Lead the design and implementation of firefighting systems, including fire suppression systems, fire alarms, sprinkler systems, and smoke management systems, ensuring optimal safety and compliance with building codes and NFPA standards.
  • Manage the design and installation of plumbing systems, including water supply, drainage, and sewage systems, ensuring functionality, sustainability, and compliance with plumbing codes and regulations.
  • Conduct site surveys, feasibility studies, and assessments to gather project requirements, evaluate existing systems, and propose cost-effective solutions that meet client needs and project goals.
  • Develop detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation for MEP systems, utilizing CAD software and other design tools to communicate design intent and facilitate construction.
  • Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, electrical engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate MEP systems seamlessly into building designs, resolve design conflicts, and optimize space utilization.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and support to junior engineers and drafters, reviewing their work, providing feedback, and fostering their professional development.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, testing, and commissioning of MEP systems, ensuring functionality, efficiency, and compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in MEP engineering, participating in professional development activities and seeking opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, vendors, and regulatory authorities, addressing technical queries, facilitating approvals, and ensuring successful project execution from conception to completion.

Job Requirements

  • Preferably a resident of Cairo.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7-15 years of experience in MEP engineering, with a focus on HVAC, Firefighting, and Plumbing systems.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing MEP projects from concept to completion, including design, coordination, and construction administration.
  • Expertise in HVAC design software (e.g., Carrier HAP, Trane TRACE, EnergyPlus) and proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, or similar design tools.
  • Thorough understanding of building codes, regulations, and industry standards related to MEP systems, including ASHRAE, NFPA, IPC, and UPC.
  • Strong analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, team members, and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Leadership capabilities, with experience leading multidisciplinary teams and mentoring junior engineers.
  • Project management experience, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation, preferred.
  • Certification or training in sustainable design (e.g., LEED AP) desirable.
