Job Description
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs clinical chemistry tests using Siemens Atellica Solutions, Cobas 6000, Cobas integra 400 , Vitros ECiQ, Advia Centaur XPT for measuring the blood glucose, urea, creatinine, uric acid, liver function, kidney function etc.
Performs the daily maintainance of the biochemistry analyzers.
Performs the daily quality control on all the biochemistry analyzers.
Runs the STAT samples and reports them in the HMS as per the STAT policy.
Informs the critical value/panic value as per the hospital policy.
Transcribes all the biochemistry results in the HMS according to the TAT policy.
Performs serologic assays including card tests for Hepatitis, syphilis and HIV etc
Maintains log books for serology tests and does infectious disease notification to doctors and PCI according to hospital policy.
Participates in the external quality control program.
Does the daily maintenance of the urine analyzer.
Performs the daily quality control on the urine analyzer.
Performs microscopic analysis of urine and stool.
Identifies parasites in stool and urine.
Runs the STAT samples and reports them in the HMS as per the STAT policy
Transcribes the results in the HMS according to the laboratory TAT policy.
Proceeds with culture of the urine and stool samples.
Participates in external quality control program.
Performs variety of CBC, Retic count using Sysmex XN-2000, ESR using Vesmatic Easy, Stago for PT and APTT.
Performs staining of peripheral blood smears and also microscopic examination of differential white cell count.
Special staining for reticulocytes, malaria and sickle cells.
Analysis of body fluids for cell counts and Sysmex XN-2000.
Analysis of seminal fluid, count, motility and staining.
Maintain log books for entry of sample data for BT CT,ESR, etc.
Performs blood group and Rh typing using specific antisera.
Does cross matching of the packed cells / whole blood received from the blood bank by semi-automated method.
Performs DCT,ICT, Du testing ,Antibody screening and identification.
Runs the STAT samples and reports them in the HMS as per the STAT policy

Collects blood from patients by venipuncture using the different types of collection tubes for different assays.
Performs bleeding time and clotting time.
Collects throat swabs, nail scraping for fungus, urethral swabs.
Pre-analytical handling of samples and follows acceptability criteria.
Follows recommended PPE before nucleic acid sample extraction to prevent rea cross-contamination.
Responsible for processing SARS-CoV-2 and other samples for RT-PCR nucleic acid extraction by using automated DNA/RNA extractor machines such as Perkin Elmer Chemagic,Torax, and TanBead.
Performs Pre-PCR and RT-PCR handling of nucleic extracted samples for amplification by using Bioneer Exicycler, BIORAD CFX96 and Gentier 96 for the detection of SARS-COV-2 nucleic acid genes.
Responsible for typing and reporting COVID-19 patients results to Hospital Information System (HIS) as per TAT requirement.
Responsible for storage of samples accordingly.
Performs other miscellaneous related duties as requested by the Supervisor.
Performs duties in compliance with hospital policy and safety standards.
Discards liquid and solid waste generated by machines as per the laboratory waste policy.
Takes part in JCI, HAAD, EHSMS, Quality, FMS, Fire & Safety, PCI trainings. Participates in Continuing Medical Education activities(CME)
