Job Description
The Communications Associate would report to the Media and Communications Manager and work on the Campaign’s media relations, external communications and help drive content and messaging strategy as part of our communications and media team.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Writing and editing press releases in both Arabic and English that support Campaign initiatives and messaging.
- Writing letters and other media content daily.
- Working with outside writers to develop and edit content for submittal and coordinating submittal to publications.
- Creation, development, and update of messaging materials as part of communications team and Campaign strategy.
- Partnership with outreach staff members on supporting events and speakers.
- Prepare content/materials for external meetings and speaking engagements (i.e., research briefings, speeches, PowerPoint presentations, talking points, etc.).
- Develop and maintain relationships with reporters (local and national) who focus on issues related to the Campaign.
- Support of Campaign messaging efforts through social media, website, and digital communications as needed.
Job Requirements
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, English, or related field.
- 2-3 years of experience in media relations, journalism, communications, or related field.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated skill in proactively building relationships with reporters and editors, and in successfully positioning issues with the media to achieve high impact placements.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to listen well and positively represent the organization and its mission.
