Job Description
Key Responsibilities:Create detailed mechanical designs for components and systems such as pumps, valves, piping, heat exchangers, and reactor internals specific to nuclear applications.Perform engineering calculations, simulations, and analyses (e.g., stress analysis, thermal analysis, fluid dynamics) to validate design integrity and performance under operational conditions.Develop comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications, engineering drawings, test procedures, and reports. Ensure all documents meet regulatory and quality standards.Ensure designs comply with nuclear regulatory requirements (e.g., ASME, NRC, IEEE), industry standards, and safety guidelines. Participate in safety assessments and risk analyses to ensure designs meet safety requirements.Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including electrical, civil, and control engineers, to ensure integrated and coherent designs. Communicate technical concepts and design details effectively to stakeholders.Oversee the development of prototypes and conduct or support testing to validate the performance of designs. Analyze test data and modify designs as necessary to achieve desired performance and safety levels.Assist in project planning, scheduling, and cost estimation for design-related activities. Monitor progress against project milestones and provide regular updates to project management.Stay up-to-date with advancements in nuclear technology, mechanical engineering, and materials science. Apply new techniques and best practices to enhance design quality and efficiency.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. A master's degree or specialized training in nuclear engineering or a related discipline is a plus.2+ years of experience in mechanical design engineering, preferably in the nuclear or a highly regulated industry (e.g., aerospace, oil and gas). Experience with nuclear-specific design codes and standards is highly desirable.Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA).Knowledge of finite element analysis (FEA) software (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tools.
