Job Description

Main Responsibilities:

  • A head teacher shall be responsible for the internal organization, management and control of the school.
  • To provide professional vision and leadership for the school which secures its success and improvement, ensuring high quality education for all its pupils and improved standards of learning and achievement.
  • In carrying out his/her duties a head teacher shall consult, where this is appropriate with the authority, the governing body, the staff of the school , the parents of its pupils, the pupils themselves.
  • To provide direct supervision of students and teachers.
  • To report any violation from the students, teachers or matrons or maids to the Managing Director.
  • To pay class visits to the teachers, present assessments, and follow up improvements.
  • To hold staff meetings; at least once every other week and keep record of those meetings.
  • To keep an eye and observe the neatness of all facilities; classes, bathrooms...etc, then direct the person in charge.
  • To ensure safety, security and care of children.
  • To make sure school timetable is being implemented punctually and consistently. Report any breach to the Managing Director.
  • To implement emergency evacuation procedures and first aid when necessary.
  • To document students’ accidents, injuries and accident reports.
  • To prepare book orders, schedules and substitution.
  • To identify student misconduct, complete incident reports and submit them to the Managing Director.
  • To assist in keeping facilities neat and clean, and report any inadequacy.
  • To maintain professionalism regarding school affairs.
  • To serve as a liaison between parents and teachers.
  • To investigate parental concerns to facilitate resolutions.
  • To follow adopted policies and procedures in accordance with the school priorities.
  • To conduct oneself in the best interest of students in accordance with the school mission statement.
  • To check teachers’ posting of grades on the school system, and makes sure it is up-to-date and correct, and the issuing of report cards whenever they are due.
  • To supervise and organize all the social events in the school.
  • To supervise and assess the clubs/activities.
  • To perform other duties as assigned by the Managing Director or American School Director.
  • To converse in English with students all the time.
  • To hold Parents’ Conferences when necessary.
  • To attend parents’ meetings.
  • To attend morning lines.
  • Formulating the overall aims and objectives of the school and policies for their implementation.
  • Leading by example, providing educational vision and direction to secure the strong and passionate commitment of staff, parents/carers and pupils.
  • Leading the selection and appointment of the teaching and non-teaching staff of the school.
  • Ensuring that the duty of providing cover for absent teachers is shared equitably among all teachers in the school (including the head teacher), taking account of their teaching and other duties.
  • Ensuring that teachers at the school receive information they need to carry out their professional duties effectively.

Job Requirements

  • Preferably a minimum of five years in a similar role.
  • Excellent command of English.
