Job Description

Job Purpose: To carry out classroom teaching and associated activities to a high standard, in order to contribute to the academic and pastoral development of each student in line with the school’s mission and development plan.

 

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Implement the delivery of the curriculum and participate in its review and development and the resourcing to support its delivery.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the the National Curriculum, including through own research.
  • Participate in a planned programme for evaluating the curriculum/schemes of work.
  • Participate in planning, implementing and reviewing necessary changes in consultation with the Lead Teacher (where applicable) and Principal.
  • Follow a planned programme for evaluating students’ learning experiences.
  • Review resources relevant to the curriculum and recommend new resources.
  • Make full use of resources and facilities available to the school as a whole.
  • Undertake the role of a form tutor where required and deliver the PSHE curriculum as appropriate.
  • Participate in extra-curricular activities and field trips which will enhance teaching.
  • Maintain a high standard of teaching and demand a high standard of learning, so that students reach their potential.
  • Follow the Policies and goals set by the department, the school, the National Curriculum and examination boards, including teaching and learning, assessment (both formative and summative) and moderation, and communication.
  • Follow administration, record-keeping and communication processes, in order to provide accurate and useful information.
  • Ensure curriculum continuity and smooth transitions for students through an awareness of the curriculum across Key Stages 2 to 5.
  • Contribute to the day-to-day organisation and activities of the school and to participate in school events as a member of the school community.
  • To fulfil other duties as specified by the Principal and Director.

Qualifications/certifications -    

  • Must hold a British Teaching Qualification.  
  • All candidates must be prepared to provide their ICP Certificate and relevant Police Checks (DBS for UK or similar in the country of current employment).
