Job Description:
- Develops and executes software/firmware testing (verification and validation) for Company products
- Take product requirements and operating instructions and translate them into product tests
- Will review and develop test methodologies.
- Will work closely with design engineering and will be involved in the new product development process
- Will manage the software/firmware release process and work closely with manufacturing
- Review product requirements and documentation
- Develop test requirements for products
- Develop test procedures, methodologies, and strategies
- Write test plans and test cases
- Execute testing and document results
- Write test reports and record defects
- Work with new product development engineering to develop and execute software/firmware testing during new product development and introduction
- Work with sustaining engineering to develop and execute software/firmware testing for legacy products
- Own the software/firmware release process, acting as interface between engineering and manufacturing
- Operates as a member of the engineering group, but must maintain independence to ensure that defects are identified and corrected before software is released.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science
- 2-3 years or more experience performing software/firmware quality testing (verification and validation) in an electronics design/manufacturing environment
- Experience working with and testing embedded and PC-based software/firmware
- Experience using software configuration management systems
- Proficient in PC office software such as MS Word and Excel
- Must be able to operate basic lab equipment such as power supplies and meters
- Ability to set up common networking protocols such as Wi-Fi and Ethernet is a plus
- Ability to operate with a high level of independence and must conduct themselves with the highest level of integrity and professionalism to ensure that tests are performed accurately and completely
- Comfortable with PC setup and operations
- Patience and attention to detail is required to execute large and time-consuming test protocols with the accuracy required
- Logical and methodical in approach to testing
