Job Description

Objective 1:

  • Analyze, improve and ensure the ongoing quality of Physiotherapy (PT) services of the Project through best-care practices in compliance with MSF protocols, procedures and guidelines from Intake evaluation through Patient Discharge.
  • Further development of Standard operating procedures (SOPs) as required
  • Define and implement standard measuring tools for monitoring progress of patients for their interdisciplinary follow-up and discharge.
  • Ensure PT work is in compliance with explicit and implicit requirements of the Project and is complete, accurate and timely.
  • Ensure sufficient and trained staff to meet patient demand.
  • Conduct random patient file review to ensure appropriate procedural compliance of assessment and follow-up.
  • Clinical individual and group supervision on a weekly basis.
  • Carry out patient treatment and follow-up to fill in the gap when needed.
  • Monitor and address missed appointments.
  • Review, implement and monitor Exit criteria and Re-Open File procedures.
  • Conduct periodic assessment of PT service impact for relevancy and effectiveness.
  • Develop awareness raising training package for family members of patients and train PT staff in delivering family trainings.
  • Collaborate with Field Co., Medical Case Manager and PMR in developing and promoting a network of external partners who support PT services and referrals. Map these services.
  • Collaborate with Medical Case Manager and Social Worker Supervisor in ensuring appropriate patient referrals and follow-up to external partners.
  • Participate in seminars/communication with other networks. Organize and receive PT staff from these projects for work shadowing.

Objective 2:

  • Actively participate in the on-going development and implementation of the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) approach to patient care.
  • Actively contribute to the development of the MDT process including organization, forms and reporting tools.
  • Support MDTeam in the development, implementation, routine review and final format of a comprehensive patient treatment plan.
  • Serve as Facilitator/Referent/Mentor to an assigned MDTeam, supporting the team facilitator
  • Support MDTeam in case-study presentations/discussions at both the MDTeam level and larger group level.
  • Monitor emotional well-being of assigned MDTeam.

Objective 3:

  • Directly supervise, mentor and support PT clinicians.
  • Ensure complete understanding and implementation of MSF protocols and procedures by PT staff through provision and review of updated materials.
  • Analyze, schedule, develop and conduct training needs in accordance with the annual training plan. Attendance is 100% at internal and external trainings as requested.
  • Conduct routine, one-on-one observation and supervision of PT staff.
  • Enhance communication skills (written and oral) of the PT team.
  • Actively monitor well-being of PT staff and follow-up as needed with PMR.
  • Ensure the proper annual HR evaluation review process for the PT team

Objective 4:

  • Comply with all administrative and management requirements of the Project and respond to management requests for investigation, analysis and response to future expansion of Project.
  • Actively participate in Project and Medical Meetings.
  • Compile, analyze and submit routine and as-requested PT data and information for use in Project and Mission reports.
  • Transmit appropriate information to PT staff.
  • Collaborate with PMR in identifying the financial needs of the PT component of the Project in formulating the annual budget and reviewing on a monthly basis.
  • Collaborate with PMR in evaluating the external emotional support needed for PT staff.
  • Implement and submit all required Administrative & Human Resource documentation in a time and accurate manner..
  • Conduct external presentations/capacity building upon request/approval of PMR.
  • Contribute, if required to problem solving and conflict mitigation within PT team
  • Participate in the reactivation and formation of a torture rehabilitation guideline.
  • Serve as resource for the 2017/ 2018 Operational Research project.

Job Requirements

Qualification:

  • Minimum of B.S. degree from an accredited/approved school for physiotherapy.
  • Valid license to practice as a physiotherapist in Egypt

Required Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a physiotherapist with a strong orthopedic background and pain management skills,

Preferred:

  • Experience supervising and coaching physiotherapists
  • Interest in humanitarian work
  • Languages
  • Fluent in Arabic and English.

Technical skills:

  • Experience in the bio psychosocial approach to patient care
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and provide adapted knowledge and skills updates for physiotherapy professionals using on the job briefing and shoulder to shoulder learning approaches
  • Competency in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
