Job Description
Job purpose:
- We are currently searching for Linux System Administrators in Spirula experience the most intense aspects of solving problems in unique ways.
- They contribute the hard work, dedication, and persistence to Spirula's main team, as they deal with customers issues by applying their own creative problem-solving techniques to identify the source of the problems; as well as keeping the customer aware of every step along the way.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Administrating, securing, and optimizing both live and development environments for the clients of Spirula systems.
- Respond to urgent situations in the live environments at any time (including off-work hours), such incidents is to be communicated by email, SMS, or call on your mobile phone depending on the urgency of the incident. This doesn’t mean immediate response or waking you up from your sleep, though this may rarely happen.
- Direct interaction with the clients is a part of the job, however, it's all about technical stuff and you are not required to do any business tasks. Normally interaction is done by emails or chatting with online clients.
- Relocation to Spirula's client's offices is likely to happen, compensation is to happen for outside Alexandria clients.
- Your email, IM accounts, and mobile phone number may be communicated to the clients to receive notifications from them in urgent situations.
- Working on non-work hours makes you eligible to be compensated for your working time, this compensation is by working less in another day with the time amount that you reported.
- You will be forbidden from freelancing in any task that fits within Spirula's business line.
Working conditions
- This position requires physical presence in Spirula’s office in Alexandria / Cairo, Egypt. This is not a remote job.
- This is a Full-time job, 8 hours per day, 5 days per week.

Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- 0 to 2 years experience in relevant field.
- Python scripting, or any other scripting language.
- Hands-on experience with virtualization, configurations management tools, and server clustering.
- Basic programming skills.
- Self-managed and self-motivated.
- Time management skills.
- Team player, but can also work individually as needed.
- High learning curve.
- Problem-solving skills
- Ability to analyze and resolve complex infrastructure resource and application deployment issues
- Ability to work under pressure and respond to emergency situations efficiently.
Specialized knowledge:
- Possess a solid understanding of the Linux or FreeBSD/OpenBSD family of Operating Systems and their underlying components
- Possess a solid understanding of the OSI networking model
- Possess analytical skills, mental resiliency and the ability to think systematically under stressful conditions
- Highly accountable and takes ownership. Outstanding work ethic, high-integrity, team player, and a lifelong learner
- Experience in bash scripting.
- Experience with cloud computing technologies from vendors such as Amazon Web Services, Google Compute Engine, Digital Ocean
- Experience with hardening systems and knowledge in information security
- Contributes to open source project
- Experience with performance analysis and debugging tools
