Job Description
Role Purpose:
Transportation Supervisor is responsible for the efficient running of a
company's fleet of vehicles. They deal with the day-to-day operation of the fleet including vehicle maintenance, vehicle financing, health and safety management, speed and fuel management. Fleet management includes commercial motor vehicles such as cars, vans and trucks.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Obtain and maintain truck licensing and registrations
- Monitor spending to ensure that expenses are consistent with approved budgets.
- Analyze expenditures and other financial information in order to develop plans, policies, and budgets for increasing profits and improving services.
- Recommend or authorize capital expenditures for acquisition of new equipment or property in order to increase efficiency and services of operations department.
- In charge of the day to day operations of the transport department.
- Responsible for all of the dispatching, routing, and tracking of delivery vehicles.
- Ensuring company compliance of all transport policies, legislation and procedures.
- Managing, monitoring and developing a team of drivers.
- Being the first point of contact for all drivers.
- Making sure that all transport fleet vehicles are properly maintained and serviced.
- Arranging for the induction and training off all new staff.
- Maintaining accurate administrative records.
- Organizing vehicle checks.
- Identifying operational issues, potential problems and opportunities.
- Resolving and managing queries and complaints courteously and efficiently.
- Appraising staff performance and also taking disciplinary measures when required.
- Ensuring all site and customer objectives are achieved.
- Responsible for all accidents investigations.
Job Requirements
Qualifications, Experience (Competencies Required)
- Five years of successful experience in the transportation field. Three years of experience as a supervisor
- Bachelor of Engineering / Bachelor of Commerce
- Postgraduate studies in Supply Chain or logistics will be a plus
- Must be proficient with computers / MS office (especially Microsoft Excel & Outlook)
- SAP working knowledge
- Knowledge of Saudi customs law will be an added advantage
- Must display excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Able to operate independently as well as part of a team
