Job Description
- The PCB Designer/Layout Engineer will support the design and development of complex PCB designs for various control and power systems.
- This position will support all phases of design, including schematic capture, layout, routing, symbol and footprint creation, generation of Gerber files, assembly drawings and other required PCB fabrication drawings and files as required.
- The PCB Designer/Layout Engineer will work directly with the design engineers and mechanical engineers for part placement and packaging, providing estimates of efforts and working to assigned schedules.
- This individual will be a leader working in a fast-paced and challenging environment supporting multiple projects.
Responsibilities:
- Design and development of analog and high speed digital circuitry in Altium Designer for systems that include various Intel based and ARM processors (Experience with Intel CPU's is preferred)
- Engaged in a wide range of activities from circuit design, schematic capture, simulation, testing/debugging through PCB layout.
- Provide all required documentation such as layout, routing, symbol and footprint creation, generation of Gerber files, assembly drawings and other required PCB fabrication files from inception through release
- Provide technical consultation advice to project managers regarding design issues, development and PCB layout.
- Perform project tracking and reporting on a daily basis
- Excellent verbal and communication skills in the English language
Job Requirements
- This position requires a Bachelor Engineering discipline or related physical science.
- The candidate must have a minimum of 5 years of Altium Designer experience in schematic design and PCB layout
- A candidate with a solid understanding of PCB design and electronic packaging including electrical, electronic and mechanical systems design is highly desired. Areas to include: AC, DC, RF, Analog, High Speed Digital, and High Voltage systems.
- Preferred candidates will be experienced with Altium Design software.
- Knowledge of IPC 6010 design standards, with specific experience of IPC 6012 3/a is desired.
- Experience designing high-layer count (>12) PCBs with multi-lamination construction is desired.
- Experience with breakout and layout of high-density BGA/CGA packages is desired.
- Experience working with PCB suppliers for DFM and design release is a plus.
- Experience with Altium, Adobe, Gerber packages, and Microsoft suite is desired.
- The candidate must have strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
- The candidate must have effective written and verbal communication skills.
- The candidate should also be very adaptable to change.
