Job Description

Position Summary: 

The Career Preparation and Alumni Officer is responsible for overseeing the advising, monitoring and support of about 75 Cairo University students in the Public University Scholarships program and the implementation of career preparation programs for all 200+ scholarship students including mentorship program, career counselling, the entrepreneurship and career preparation camp, and alumni data collection. The Officer will supervise one assistant. 

Responsibilities: 

 Student Monitoring and Support  

  • Track and monitor student progress to ensure that all student needs are met and all Cairo University scholarship students are on track according to continuation criteria
  • Check all students’ progress and alignment with requirements each semester and at the end of each summer
  • Ensure that students are adjusting to independent university life and being away from home, are performing academically, are participating fully in all enhancement activities, and are supported in securing work following graduation
  • Support students, identifying when help is needed beyond university advisors’, peer coaches’ and mentors’ support
  • Visit students on campus (or virtually during COVID) four times per year (some travel may be required)
  • Pay students tuition, fees, and allowances according to the budget
  • Regularly collect and contribute M&E data per the M&E plan
  • Regularly collect and submit cost share data, and develop new sources of cost share

Mentorship Program

  • Coordinate a clear, organized, and engaging mentorship program including management of the students’ google classroom, student orientation sessions, meetings with mentors, documentation, etc.
  • Outreach to private sector volunteers and ensure that all students are matched with a private sector mentor, and meet with them regularly as required
  • Monitor student participation through google classroom and report to fellow officers on their students engagement at least quarterly
  • Engage private sector volunteers and track participation, addressing issues when they arise

Career Preparation and Alumni Support 

  • Arrange the Career Preparation and Alumni Camp for each cohort of students (one per year) including all logistics, budget, trainers, and subcontractors
  • Coordinate career counseling sessions for all students in final year
  • Monitor graduated students and track data and employment status

Job Requirements

  • Qualifications and Skills:
     
  • Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as education, business administration, communications, or economics.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing and implementing scholarship or training programs, advising youth, and/or working in and with the Egyptian university system.
  • Experience in scholarship management and/or student advising.
  • Fluent in English and Arabic; with excellent written and oral communication.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution abilities.
  • Demonstrated project management, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Preferred:
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience in coordinating training programs and/or delivering training
  • Experience working in or closely with the private sector.
