Job Description

he Project Contract Manager is responsible for the Contract Management and Administration during contract execution phase up to the final acceptance of the work and final account related to the Project. Take responsibility to prepare and organise records namely, correspondences, emails, letters, documents etc. into a format that the Project Contract Manager will use to build up notice to claims or defend claims from any third party.

Scope of the role and responsibilities:

  • Get acquainted and ensure application of Contract, Claims and Insurance Management Manual (CCIM) and Alstom governance.
  • Prepare/update Contract Summary.
  • Prepare/update with Core Project Team Contract Management Strategy Plan (CMSP)
  • Organizes a Contract Management Day with the Core Project Team
  • Analyzes the contract to build and drive implementation of Contract/Claim Management Strategy Plan
  • Check/update CDRL with the Project Team members
  • Ensures timely issuance of contractual notices.
  • In collaboration with Documentation Controller and/or Project Contract Administrator, ensures a reliable filing and easy access of all correspondences.
  • Monitors/manages correspondence by analyzing (for and with Project Manager/Director) incoming and outgoing correspondences to third parties.
  • Develops and produces any project specific processes and ways of working for contract/claim management.
  • Develops a pragmatic commercial approach based on contractual analysis of the project, to protect, on a daily basis, Alstom interests
  • Carefully monitors, records, and notifies customer/partners and any third party regarding claims/counterclaims and prepares and manages all elements and supporting documentation for claims/counterclaims negotiations.
  • Monitors customer/partner requests for variations / change orders / extensions of time.  Provides follow-up, as necessary, to drive to transactional closure, including updates to the VO/VR/Delay registers, preparation of commercial offer, and prepares associated contractual letters for CD/PM/PD approval.
  • Provides proactive advice on specific issues, risks, contractual/claims activities, taking into account the contract and business objectives.
  • Reports on contract management and claims activities to the project, Legal, and Contract Management teams.
  • Ensures Contract management KPIS are reported as per reporting deadlines including gathering the inputs from Key supplier Contract Managers and Insurance Managers
  • Anticipates events and risks associated with the contract management activities; propose alternative proactive solutions to keep the situation under control.
  • Works closely with the Project Directors, Project Managers, Project Controllers, Project Engineering Managers, Key Supplier Contract Managers, and Project Planning Managers, to identify and mitigate risks; and to identify, maximize, and leverage claim opportunities.
  • Provides at any time, on management demand, a reliable and understandable contractual and commercial analysis of the project.

Job Requirements

Main Requirements:

  • Legal degree
  • 10 years in a similar Contracts role with a large construction or Transport Company.
  • Experience working in a large multi-national company
  • Excellent communication in English and Arabic(written, spoken) as well as native language
  • Knowledge and skill in networking within a large organization
