Job Description
Main Duties:
- Assist and advise the Chief Legal Officer in relation to delivering the objectives and responsibilities of the Legal Department
- Draft, review and negotiate complex, commercial technology agreements, as well as software licenses, software as a service (SaaS), infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), professional services, statements of work, service and maintenance schedules, NDAs, data protection agreements and related project documentation
- Develop, maintain and update relevant regulatory policies, processes and procedures. Ensure and enforce compliance with all aspects of these policies, processes and procedures
- Ensure regulatory obligations such as regulatory filings and reporting, both standard and ad hoc are made in a correct and timely fashion
- Oversee the planning and preparation of regulatory reviews and audits (both internal and external) reviewing and approving documentation gathered to respond to compliance and regulatory inquiries
- Provide legal advice to members of the Business Units related to complex, global commercial agreements
- Assist with compliance and risk management initiatives and dispute resolution, including software audit and planned quality certification
- Assist with the drafting and updating of various forms, templates and guidelines maintained by the Legal Department for the Business Unites
- Manage and oversee certain legal matters handled by outside counsel
- Stay up-to-date on applicable legal issues, trends and developments
Job Requirements
- BA degree in law; Ideally a minimum of 8 years of related business experience and ideally at least 5 years of legal practice in technology filed.
- Master’s degree is a plus.
- Fully qualified lawyer with excellent academic records
- Strong transnational and technology/content licensing experience.
- A minimum of 8+ years of legal experience (with several experience years at a leading law firm or in-house experience).
- Outstanding negotiation and drafting skills
- Ability to successfully balance the company’s commercial interests and objectives with identified legal and business risks
- Ability to manage multiple engagements at once, prioritize deadlines and projects effectively and work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility, versatility and ability to adapt to changing business priorities and strategies
- Deep understanding of technology, including SaaS, PaaS, IaaS and contact center operations
- Good understanding of privacy, information security and intellectual property issues that relate to Technology and Sourcing agreements
- Ability to deliver results with little supervision in an often ambiguous environment with a local and virtual team of counsels, while simultaneously and effectively managing multiple concurrent projects.
- Demonstrated analytic skills and strong partnership with Finance and Business on issues including commercial aspects.
- Fluency in both English and Arabic is a MUST.
