Job Description

The role will be Reporting to the CEO and will involve providing proactive and pragmatic advice to the business on all legal and regulatory matters. Taking this role, you will be actively involved in:

  • Formation of the Legal Department: hiring, defining scopes of responsibilities and tasks, managing a team of lawyers in order to provide comprehensive legal support to the group.
  • Handle corporate, commercial, finance, administrative and other areas of law involved when operating a real estate – focused business;
  • Advising the company on the litigation risks of possible business decisions, providing preventive counseling with respect to the legal risks associated with business practices, and developing strategy with both inside and outside counsel in response to civil litigation and regulatory inquiries (including negotiating settlement agreements where appropriate), and cost-effectively managing the resources required to address those matters.
  • Negotiating, drafting and implementing a wide variety of complex, multi-party agreements, including mergers and acquisitions, strategic alliances and joint ventures, and physician affiliation agreements.
  • Developing, implementing and managing a strategic plan for the provision of legal services in accordance with and in support of business objectives; budgeting for, selecting and managing outside counsel
  • Managing existing in-house lawyers; creating staff development plans in conjunction with HR; and recruiting, developing, and training staff in accordance with the strategic plan.
  • Give accurate and timely counsel to executives in a variety of legal topics (labor law, partnerships, international ventures, corporate finance etc.)
  • Collaborate with management to devise efficient defense strategies
  • Specify internal governance policies and regularly monitor compliance
  • Research and evaluate different risk factors regarding business decisions and operations
  • Apply effective risk management techniques and offer proactive advise on possible legal issues
  • Communicate and negotiate with external parties (regulators, external counsel, public authority etc.), creating relations of trust
  • Draft and solidify agreements, contracts and other legal documents to ensure the company’s full legal rights
  • Deal with complex matters with multiple stakeholders and forces
  • Provide clarification on legal language or specifications to everyone in the organization
  • Conduct your work with integrity and responsibility
  • Maintain current knowledge of alterations in legislation

Job Requirements

  • Qualified lawyer with appropriate professional qualification.
  • University graduate with law
    degree.
  • Knowledge and experience in relation to EGY legal, regulatory and compliance issues.
  • Legal, audit or operational experience, either with a leading bank, securities house, regulator or accountancy practice.
  • Mature and confident, with initiative, excellent judgment, analytical and communications skills.
  • Native Arabic speaker, English fluency.
  • Previous experience of management of a team of legal and/or compliance professionals.
  • Strong negotiation skills;
  • Degree of professional ethics and integrity
  • Sound judgment and ability to analyze situations and information
  • Organizational and management skills;
  • Business-minded, can-do attitude, with excellent corporate communication skills and ability to influence at executive level;
  • Fluent English (oral, written, legal, commercial terminology).
