Job Description
- Maintain, review and create tariffs with agreed customer rates.
- Build strong working relationships with customers, suppliers, Shipping Lines & overseas partners/agents.
- Be able to confidently negotiate rates with suppliers, Shipping Lines and overseas partners/agents.
- Offer high levels of customer service to clients at all times.
- Check and raise sales invoices, securing payment in a timely fashion.
- Resolve any pricing query or complaint and escalate if necessary.
- Follow up all quotations to a conclusion.
- Communicate effectively with the Sea-freight operations team.
- Manage, organized and develop the Airfreight and Sea-freight activities on behalf of the Company.
- Ensure that high standards of support are afforded to the existing sales and operations functions within the office environment.
- Develop appropriate working practices to ensure ownership and responsibility is taken for the care of consignments in transit. The preparation of appropriate freight administration / information and a professional level of customer care /
- liaison with both clients and suppliers.
- Daily duties will involve:
- Working as part of a team to lend support to the existing sales efforts of the
- Business Development Team, and to process all Export and Import Airfreight and Sea-freight bookings.
- To be responsible for the day to day smooth running of the Airfreight and Sea-freight jobs to ensure that all collections and deliveries are being efficiently processed and that consignments are checked throughout their transit to ensure customer requirements are fulfilled.
- To be responsible for the daily checking of all Airfreight and Sea-freight collections and deliveries and post flights and ensuring that clients are kept informed of any deviation to the agreed schedule
- To lend support to the Operations Department by assisting in the quotation process for existing clients, following up quotations and building relationships with existing clients.
- To be involved in the operations meeting, where current jobs, quotes, problems, entertaining and other relevant topics are discussed along with the previous weeks trading activity.
- To be involved with regular proactive existing client calls to extract quotations and bookings were possible. Customers to be called to be decided at the Tuesday sales meeting.
- To be involved in costing job files and raising the sales invoices for the Air freight and Sea freight section and ensuring the accuracy of information at all times.
Job Requirements
- Experience of both Air freight and Sea Freight Operations
- Up to date Freight Forwarding Experience
- Be Commercially Aware
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritise workload
- Ability to work on own initiative
- Fast and accurate under pressure
- Used to working to strict deadlines
- Good Analytical Skills
- Excellent Communication, IT & Customer Service Skills
