Job Description
- Analyze configurations of the basic structural components of a building or other structures.
- Calculate the pressures, stresses, and strains that each component, such as beam or lintel.
- Consider the strength of various materials and to see how their inclusion may necessitate a change of structural design.
- Liaise with other designers including architects to agree on safe designs and their fit with the aesthetic concept of the construction.
- Make drawings, specifications, and computer models of structures for building contractors.
- Liaise with construction contractors to ensure that newly erected buildings are structurally sound.
- Apply expert knowledge of the forces that act on various structures.
- Use computers and structural system design and analysis software technology for simulation purposes.
- Review all the related design documents (drawings, reports, etc.) with Structural Engineer Coordinator and coordination with Technical Coordinator and Project Architect and to clearly mark all the comments on the respective documents for correction as necessary.
- Analyze and apply to the project the agreed client requirements and which shall include all the related codes and standards as directed.
