About the job :

Preschool Teacher / Nursery is responsible for all aspects of the care and education of the children enrolled in her class/group.She demonstrates initiative, is conscientious and provides complete follow-through on areas of responsibility.

Job Description :

Academics

  • Together with and under the supervision of the Class Teacher, the Teaching Assistant creates and follows an age appropriate curricular plan for the academic year.
  • Plans and implements age and developmentally appropriate classroom practices that will include the areas of physical, emotional, social and cognitive needs of the young children.
  • Maintains regular observation and evaluation of children’s development and progress.
  • Achieves developmental milestones as defined by The Creative Curriculum (see developmental milestones booklet),
  • Ensures school readiness for graduating children in leading International English schools.

Emotional Well-being:

  • Ensures emotional well being of students.
  • Identifies and reports problem behaviors requiring professional intervention to the classroom Teacher. Physical Well being.
  • Ensures the safety of each child enrolled in the class whether in the classroom, on the playground, or in common areas.
  • Keeps number of accidents at a minimum.

Interaction with Children:

  • Serves as a role model for the children in the areas of attitude, speech and actions on a daily basis.
  • Treats each child with dignity and respect for his/her cultural background.
  • Encourages children’s development in the areas of building self-confidence, problem solving, and taking responsibility for their actions.
  • Interacts with each child on a daily basis through circle time, centers, snacks, lunchtime, playground, free play, etc.
  • Is consistent, but lovingly enforces classroom discipline through positive behavior management techniques.
  • Refrains from using negative language with children.

Working Conditions :

  • The academic day starts at 7:30 AM sharp and ends at 3:30 PM

Job Requirements

  • Consistently able to observe and respond to children’s needs, emergencies, and/or conflicts that might occur in the classroom, on the playground, and/or in common areas.
  • Consistently able to supervise up to six children alone without supervision or support.
  • Consistently able to kneel or crouch down to maintain eye contact at child’s level.
  • Consistently able to sit on the floor to work with children.
  • Consistently able to react quickly to a child that is several meters away.
  • Consistently able to respond to children’s first aid needs (inside and on the playground), which may include cuts, bruises, blood/bodily fluids.
  • Consistently able to establish clear communications orally and in writing (in the English language) to children, parents, co-workers, and administration.
  • Consistently able to deal effectively with the stress involved in working closely with children, parents, coworkers, and administration.
