Job Description

Job Summary

The SEFPP Social & Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) Director, who will have deep knowledge and experience in FP/RH BCC programs, will be a full-time position based in Cairo, Egypt. S/he will be working directly with MOHP and NPC; responsible for developing, designing and implementing all behavior change and communication activities as well as Private Sector Engagement activities for SEFPP with MOHP/ FP Sector and NPC. The SBCC Director will report to the Chief of Party, and will supervise SBCC Support Officer and Media and Youth Engagement Officer .

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

Selected Health Behaviors Enhanced Activities

  • Assess Social and Behavior Change Capacity (SBCC) capacity in Egypt, reinforce and extend that capacity as it applies to FP/RH;
  • Support and extend SBCC efforts in FP/RH in Egypt through collaboration with the MOHP (FP/RH Sector and Health Education and Communication Unit) and health communication units in other ministries as appropriate;
  • Design and implement full national communications campaigns using mass media, informational materials and community outreach;
  • Explore and utilize as feasible and appropriate social media and mobile technology to reach youth with FP/RH awareness messaging;
  • Explore innovative opportunities for community outreach such as working with CHWs and training programs to incorporate FP/RH messaging into ongoing training and informational sessions;
  • Integrate SBCC and organizational development;
  • Collaborate with other grantee staff to improve the voluntary adoption of FP by women and couples based on informed choice;
  • Conduct mapping exercise of women and men of reproductive age on behavioral barriers to FP uptake for all methods, including LARC
  • Conduct mapping exercise of providers (e.g. physicians, nurse/midwives, RRs, and pharmacists) on barriers to effective FP delivery, including LARC

General Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT); and
  • Interact and communicate with Egypt MOHP, NPC, other government officials, private sector, NGO partners and other stakeholders as needed.

Job Requirements

  • Master’s degree or higher in social and behavior change and communication or other relevant course of study;
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in implementing Social and Behavioral Change Communication programs in developing country settings;
  • Prior experience in implementing private sector engagement programs in developing country settings;
  • Experience with implementing capacity-strengthening activities within SBCC programs and with virtual electronic platforms;
  • Experience with gender and women’s empowerment is desired;
  • Experience interacting with host government officials, civil society partners and other stakeholders;
  • Working knowledge of relevant USAID and USG policies, strategies, requirements;
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and oral and written communication skills; and
  • Fluent in spoken and written English, Arabic.
