Job Description

Head of Risk is primarily responsible for maintaining the high quality of Fawry Microfinance’s loan portfolio through the implementation and maintenance of credit underwriting, credit control and arrears management/recovery functions.

Main responsibilities and tasks :

  • Ensure the organizational setup and development of the company in terms of building a well-organized risk-protection structure, effective processes and procedures and a fast decision-making system.
  • Organize, implement, develop and maintain an efficient workflow in credit underwriting, credit control and recovery units.
  • Monitors KPI’s achievement in decision-making, controlling and recovery actions.
  • Ensures smooth coordination and cooperation between subordinate units and other front-/back-office units of the organization.
  • Organize processes for staff selection, recruitment and coaching, as well as monitoring, motivation and controlling the duties and responsibilities of subordinate personnel.
  • Develop all necessary controls and tools to reduce/mitigate/prevent possible credit risks/frauds in the lending process.
  • Maintain the quality of loan portfolio below the agreed PAR levels.
  • Monitor and implement strict adherence to FRA’s credit risk related rules and regulations.
  • Arrange preparation of all credit risk reports for FMF’s Credit Risk Management Committee and the Board of Directors.
  • Take the lead in development of all risk related processes and procedures, as well as loan products, CRM and IT system developments.
  • Organize the process of assessment and approval of decision-making limits for employees of subordinated units.

Job Requirements

  • University degree in economics / accounting / banking / finance.
  • Excellent spoken level of English.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience at the same position in an Egyptian or international micro finance organization / commercial bank.
  • 4-5 years of experience in staff-management (with not less than 10 employees).
  • Knowledge of the Egyptian micro finance market dynamics and trends related to credit risk.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, stress-resistant, result-oriented and critical-thinking person.
  • Strong leadership, time-management, analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to make effective decisions regarding processes implementation and staff organization.
