Position Overview: As a Sustainable Development Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our commitment to sustainable practices, addressing climate change, fostering an internal culture of responsibility and well-being, and coordinating events. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving sustainability initiatives, managing environmental impact, ensuring employee engagement in sustainable practices, and overseeing events related to sustainability efforts.
Responsibilities:
- Sustainable Strategy Development:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive sustainable development strategy aligned with the company's mission and values.
- Identify key areas for improvement and innovation to enhance company sustainability profile.
- Climate Change Mitigation:
- Research and assess the impact of climate change on the insurance industry and develop strategies to mitigate risks.
- Collaborate with internal teams to integrate climate-conscious practices into business operations.
- Environmental Impact Management:
- Monitor and evaluate the environmental impact of company operations and propose strategies for reduction and offsetting.
- Implement initiatives to promote energy efficiency, waste reduction, and sustainable resource management.
- Employee Engagement:
- Develop and execute programs to enhance employee awareness and engagement in sustainable practices.
- Encourage a culture of responsibility by promoting eco-friendly behaviors and initiatives within the workplace.
- Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Collaborate with external stakeholders, NGOs, and government bodies to strengthen partnerships in sustainable development.
- Represent company in sustainability forums and initiatives.
- Events Coordination and Handling:
- Coordinate and organize internal and external events related to sustainability, including workshops, seminars, and awareness campaigns.
- Liaise with vendors, partners, and internal teams to ensure smooth execution of sustainability-related events.
- Reporting and Compliance:
- Prepare regular reports on sustainability metrics, achievements, and areas for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with local and international sustainability regulations and standards.
- Coordinate and submit reports to the United Nations on sustainable development goals (SDGs) progress.
- UN and Internal Reporting:
- Prepare and submit periodic reports to the United Nations on company sustainability efforts and contributions to global goals.
- Generate internal reports as needed, providing insights into sustainability performance and recommending improvements.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or a degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business, or related field.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing sustainable development projects.
- Strong understanding of climate change impacts and mitigation strategies.
- Excellent project management and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Skills:
- Certification in sustainability or related field.
- Previous experience in the insurance industry.
- Familiarity with local and global sustainability regulations.
