The school day is 8 hours from 6:45 to 2:45, Sunday through Thursday
JOB SUMMARY
Responsibilities at the Bayan Gardens School (BGS) are divided between teaching and service. The school works closely with the Ministry of Education (MOE) with an academic curriculum in English and Arabic; for Grades 4-12.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teaching subject courses and or supervising lab work in the field of expertise as required
- Preparing customized teaching materials in the field of expertise,
- Preparing daily lesson plans, lectures and other teaching materials,
- Assisting in regular updating of course materials,
- Implementing grading systems as developed,
- Advising and counseling students,
- Participating in evaluation of students’ knowledge.
- Attending meetings as required, and staying up to date in their field
Service activities involve:
- Serving on various committees at the Department,
- Attending a majority of department, school and general faculty meetings,
- Active role in organizing academic community activities, i.e. parent’s night, etc.
- Contribute to organizing scientific fairs
- Duties as assigned, i.e. lunch, end of day student pick-up and monitoring, etc.
Job Requirements
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience in an international school with a preference to individuals with experience in the Middle East.
- Significant knowledge in the fields of teaching at all levels, advanced, intermediate, beginner,
- Proven record of developing daily lessons, lecture courses, lab manuals and testing materials,
- Proven record of teaching and instruction,
- Strong writing and English language skills,
- Excellent ability to orally communicate with others, using English language without the use of an interpreter or pronounced accent
- Ability to work cooperatively with & contribute to a diverse workplace through ideas or experience.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum a bachelor’s degree, certification in ESL, Masters preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Typical physical demands include: a high degree of manual dexterity to sufficiently perform computer functions on a keyboard, produce materials on a PC and operate basic office equipment, normal or corrected vision and hearing, extensive sitting, standing and/or walking, mobility sufficient to visit with departments or employees.
