Job Objectives:
Music teachers play an important role in bringing the gift of music to their students. They may work with children in public schools, from pre-K until 12 grades
Main Responsibilities:
Typical tasks that may be carried out include:
- Teaches skills in music understanding appreciation, harmony, explorations in music and choral music to elementary pupils
- Plans executes a balanced music program and organizes class time so that preparation, rehearsal and instruction can be accomplished within the allotted time.
- Utilizes repertoire of all types of music literature, including traditional and contemporary that are appropriate for the ages and skill levels of pupils
- Maintains care/responsibility for school-owned music, musical instruments and equipment to prevent loss or abuse. Makes minor adjustments and requests repairs to instruments as required
- Evaluates each pupil’s musical growth, performance, and musical understanding. Assesses each individual’s contribution to the performance of the group
- Cooperation with Building Principal and staff in providing musical programs for school assemblies, open house, parent meetings and seasonal programs
- Communicates with parents and school staff on individual student’s progress

- Technical and professional knowledge: strong background in music theory and musicianship; basic musical instrument skills especially piano; have a positive attitude towards leading children to take responsibility for their own learning and behavior

- Working Experience; at least 3 years working experience in education and qualifications in subject area, Good English; Must be committed to working in an international environment
- Communication Skills: You must be able to speak clearly to students, other teachers, parents and administration officials.
- Instruction Skills: You should be able to explain unfamiliar concepts with authority and in a clear and concise way so that students can understand.
- Patience: The students you work with will have different backgrounds and abilities. Patience will help teachers deal with students who act out or have trouble following the material.
- Creativity: Teachers have to find ways to involve students into their lessons. Additionally, teachers may have to work with different learning styles to get the most out of each student.
- People Skills: Engaging parents and creating healthy relationships with students and faculty will help create a quality learning environment. You are able to absorb suggestion from others
- Personal Skills: continue own musical development and participate in musical ensembles to keep your musical skills fresh and sharp
