About the Job:
- The Oracle database administrator is responsible for administering the Oracle databases to include performance, integrity and security of the databases.
- The Oracle database administrator is also responsible for managing the Oracle databases in such a way as to provide all users access in a form that suits their needs.
- The database administrator has experience with and the ability to work independently and communicate effectively with the team and supervisors.
Responsibilities:
- Installation, configuration and upgrading of Oracle server software and related products.
- Perform database tuning and performance monitoring.
- Develops and promotes standard operating procedures.
- Develops and maintains a comprehensive database and software configuration, and database/library of all supporting documentation.
- Plan growth and changes (capacity planning).
- Interface with Oracle Corporation for technical support.
- Diagnoses, isolates and de-bugs infrastructure problems and performs problem resolution.
- Work as part of a team and provide support when required.
- Perform general technical trouble shooting and give consultation to development teams.
- Troubleshooting user issues.
- Ensuring that storage, archiving, back-up and recovery procedures are functioning correctly.
- Implement and maintain database security (create and maintain users and roles, assign privileges).
- Carries out moderately complex system technical analysis of various database platforms primarily focusing on Oracle RDBMS.
- Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.
- Patch Management.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- Good understanding of the Oracle database, related utilities and tools.
- A minimum of three years’ experience in Oracle Database administration.
- 12c/11g experience.
- Knowledge of Oracle Middle-ware products.
- A good understanding of the underlying operating system.
- A good knowledge of the physical database design.
- A knowledge Oracle ASM and Oracle Enterprise Manager.
- Ability to perform both Oracle and operating system performance tuning and monitoring.
- Knowledge of all Oracle backup and recovery scenarios.
- Experience with running databases in a physical and Virtualization Environments.
- A good knowledge of Oracle security management.
- A good knowledge of how Oracle acquires and manages resources.
- Experience in code migration, database change management and data management through the various stages of the development life cycle.
- A knowledge of both database and system performance tuning.
- A DBA should have sound communication skills with management, development teams, vendors and systems administrators.
- A DBA should have the ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
- A DBA should possess a sound understanding of the business.
- Oracle ASM and Oracle Enterprise Manager.
- Experience with UNIX Like Operating systems.
- Unix shell scripting.
