Web Developer Job Summary:

A web developer is responsible for the design, layout and coding of a website. They are involved with the technical and graphical aspects of a website; how the site works and how it looks. They can also be involved with the maintenance and update of an existing site. They must be able to troubleshoot issues quickly, and stay up-to-date on current and emerging technologies, standards, and trends.

Responsibilities:

• Write code in one or more programming or scripting languages, such as PHP or JavaScript.
• Plan and prototype new applications.
• Design the architecture of the components of an application.
• Design user interface and web layout using HTML/CSS practices.
• Decide on the best technologies and languages for the project.
• Test sites and applications in different browsers and environments.
• problem solving.
• Fix bugs in existing projects.
• Test new features thoroughly to ensure they perform the correct task in all cases.
• Run performance benchmarking tests.
• Upgrade and repair existing programs.
• Build and test Application Program Interfaces (APIs) for applications to exchange data.
• Research, incorporate and contribute to Open Source projects.
• Meet designers, developers and project staff for progress updates.
• Gather requirements from clients and account managers.
• Learn and test new technologies, frameworks and languages.

• Build and maintain databases.
