Role Overview
We are looking for a skilled Joinery Estimator with extensive knowledge in NFR (non-fire-rated) doors, FR (fire-rated) doors, external doors, and general woodwork. This role is fully remote, with absolutely no on-site visits necessary. The ideal candidate will perform detailed take-offs, prepare cost estimates, and effectively communicate with both clients and suppliers via digital platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare Accurate Estimates: Review plans, drawings, or digital documents to produce comprehensive cost estimates for wooden doors (NFR, FR, external) and other custom joinery projects.
- Digital Take-offs: Conduct take-offs using tools such as Bluebeam or PlanSwift (or similar software), ensuring accurate measurement of materials and labor requirements.
- Proposal Creation: Develop clear, client-friendly proposals that outline scope, deliverables, timelines, pricing, and any assumptions or exclusions.
- Client & Team Communication: Collaborate closely with clients, project managers, and internal stakeholders via video calls, emails, or messaging platforms to address queries, clarify specifications, and confirm project details.
- Supplier Management: Coordinate with suppliers for quotes on materials, tracking digital purchase orders, and ensuring cost efficiency.
- Budget Monitoring: Use digital project management tools to track estimates against actual project costs, identifying and reporting on any variances.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain organized electronic records of all estimates, variations, and project documentation.
Job Requirements
Professional Experience:
- At least 3 years of proven experience as a joinery estimator or in a related role, with a focus on woodwork, doors (NFR/FR/external), and related fixtures.
Technical Expertise:
- Strong familiarity with joinery methodologies and materials.
- Solid understanding of fire-rating regulations for doors and relevant building codes (if required for specific regions).
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specs.
Software Proficiency:
- Comfortable with online collaboration tools like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Slack, or Google Workspace.
Analytical & Detail-Oriented:
- Keen attention to detail to ensure estimates are precise and costs are managed effectively.
Communication:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for remote coordination with team members and clients.
Preferred Attributes:
- Global Code Knowledge: Familiarity with international building regulations or codes for fire-rated doors.
- Multitasking: Ability to manage multiple estimating tasks and projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Remote Work Experience: Demonstrated ability to stay self-motivated and organized while working in a fully remote setup.
