Job Description

Over all Job Scope

The Engineer of Production Planning will coordinate all production planning activities for the chemicals manufacturing operation; this individual will be involved with the daily activities of production, inventory, warehousing and distribution for the finished products being produced.

The ideal candidate for this position must be an advocate for production planning best practices and standardization at the plant level.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing Master Schedule requirements from demand forecast, plant capacity, and historical data
  • Interact with production and sales personnel to update and advise of progress and new developments.
  • Manage volume and manufacturing location changes between factories as needed to meet customer requirements
  • Monitor inventories of raw material, work in process, and finished good in an effort to minimize costs and achieve the inventory goals
  • Oversee development and maintenance of tools that enhance production planning capability for all market needs.
  • Train and audit plant personnel for compliance in production department standards and practices.
  • Assure inside sales and plants utilize the ‘system’ through on site auditing and clear tracking metrics.
  • Maintain accurate needs attention and obsolete inventory and implement measures for improvement.
  • Drive continuous improvement through training, tool development, and strategic planning.
  • Troubleshoot problems with Chemicals manufacturing processes.
  • Conduct research to develop new and improved manufacturing processes.
  • Planning and organizing production schedules (Short & Long Terms)
  • Organizing the repair and routine maintenance of production equipment.

Job Requirements

Requirements

  • BS Degree in business, logistics management or a related area.
  • 5+ years of experience in a production planning/logistics/materials handling role.
  • Experience in manufacturing, operational and customer driven environments.
  • Ability to develop processes, train end users, and implement projects to completion.
  • Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office with specific emphasis on Excel, Access, and Word & Microsoft Project.
  • Certificates in APICS, CPSM, Six Sigma, and Lean Manufacturing.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of operating systems is a plus.
