Job Description
- Monitors and maintains a stable and operational database environment.
- Plans, designs and implements effective database structures based upon the logical design of data, data relationships, access times, and storage considerations.
- Controls and monitors the integrity of data stored in the database, memory usage and access times for database functions.
- Performs all operations necessary for the backup and recovery of database.
- Evaluates requests for new data elements and systems and incorporates into the existing shared data environment.
- Coordinates the use of the organization's data to ensure data integrity and control redundancy.
- Creates and initiates data recovery procedures when data integrity threatened.
- Performs necessary database evaluation and tuning to improve system performance.
- Develops and maintains standards on database security.
- Writes PL/SQL and T-SQL Code.
- Writes, re-tests and corrects PL/SQL and T - SQL coding to ensure proper functioning of applications and systems.
- Reviews proposed database applications to ensure compliance with established database and/or on-line management software standards.
- Develops and maintains responsible contact with end user management and administrative supervisors.
- Provides assistance to information technology professionals engaged in various phases of the Software Development Life Cycle.
- Installs OS, third-party applications and patches.
- Manages user accounts, as required.
- Monitors and maintains the basic database related functions of the UNIX and Windows server environments.
