Job Description

  • Job Safety Analysis are performed across site for various work activities across site to identify, document and address all potential hazards
  • Regular Planned area inspections/ Planned Task Observations.
  • Identify and communicate national laws and company requirements that are applicable to the HSE aspects of site operations.
  • Prepare objectives, targets and programs in line with SGM HSE Policy; significant risks identified during risk assessments, results from audits and inspections; Legal and other requirements.
  • Ensure that HSE Committee program are on place
  • Ensure the review of the PPE register detailing the reviewed and accepted PPE according to minimum specifications and standards.
  • Identify resources required to meet the commitments of the HSE Training section.
  • Ensure all personnel within the Training section are familiar with the contents of their Position Descriptions and have a clear understanding of all Policies and procedures as outlined in the HSE management system
  • Ensure employees understand their roles and responsibilities and have the competence to fulfil these responsibilities through appropriate training.
  • Support the respective area manager in identifying additional HSE training requirements based upon employee job functions and plan the implementation of applicable training courses
  • • Responsible for preparing written weekly and monthly HSE reports, statistics and presentations related to HSE performance
  • Adequate communication to contractors and visitors via orientation, training, pamphlets, postings
  • Ensure all personnel are aware of the appropriate action to take in an emergency situation and such actions are practically practiced.
  • Ensure that all of the SGM site and contractor employees work within the Integrated Management System
  • Ensure that all HSE policies and procedures fit and work with the site needs and that it is used as directed as well as updated and modified when and where required.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and other requirements
  • Ensure all shortcomings or needs identified in incident investigations, audits, inspections, etc. are addressed
  • Ensure that records related to HSE management are controlled within the HSE Management System and stored and maintained to be readily identified and accessed
  • Records relating to Health & Safety management are controlled.
  • Relevant documents such as Accident/ Incident reports, monitoring data, training records, audit reports, management meeting minutes and permits/ licenses are stored and maintained to be readily identified and accessible

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • An excellent working knowledge of Egyptian HSE legislation and the application of this to mining activities
  • Direct Experience or equivalent NEBOSH Diploma
  • From 10 to 15 years of professional experience in senior management
  • Working in heavy industry, mining or process plant, Oil and Gaz 
  • Excellent command of English
  • Microsoft office proficiency
  • Managerial skills
