Job Description
Over all Job Scope
Lead the development and design of experiments and supervise the implementation of chemicals research projects. Ensure that all tests and experiments are conducted in accordance with the test protocols and company procedures. Ensure experiment data is properly recorded and observations are accurately recorded, verified, and reported.
Responsibilities
- Lead the team supporting those aspects of the programs that are delivered in the laboratory.
- Lead and take overall responsibility for the team of technicians providing technical support and guidance for staff using the laboratory equipment and tools.
- The activities of the team include the set up and maintenance of equipment, and the preparation of materials and resources for wide range of laboratory.
- Review research protocols of internal and external research groups in an effort to stay abreast as to what research projects are occurring in the lab at any given time.
- Provide technical support to the operations team to optimize production planning.
- Environmental Laboratory personnel including training, hiring, terminations and performance evaluations.
- Ensures Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
- Handle researching for new Chemicals products and responsible for the analysis of samples to determine their chemical composition and supervising the environmental laboratory operations.
- Responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all of the functions within the Laboratory including testing, staffing, training, scheduling, budgeting, maintaining supplies, and meeting regulatory requirements.
- Responsible for recognizing test results or problems that require referral to the Deputy General Manager & General Manager.
- Delegates and supervises day‑to‑day operations of the Laboratory including checking supplies, ordering, maintaining inventory, cleaning, and preparing reagents and controls.
- Ensures that proficiency testing is completed and returned in a timely manner.
Job Requirements
Requirements
- BS Degree in Chemicals or a related area, Preferred PHD certificate.
- 10+ years of experience in R&D, business planning & materials handling role.
- Experience in manufacturing, operational and customer driven environments.
- Ability to develop processes, train end users, and implement projects to completion.
- Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office with specific emphasis on Excel, Access, and Word & Microsoft Project.
- Certificates in Six Sigma, and Lean Manufacturing.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of operating systems is a plus.
