Nurse Assistant (Kuwait)

Main Duties:

• Work honestly within the philosophy & policies of nursing in the work areas: Independently or under the supervision of S/N as needed.
• Aware that he is working with sick patient and has the knowledge to deal with such person.
• Has basic knowledge of patient’s safety factor in work setting and able to deal with it in co-operation of the other health team member.
• Monitor vital signs of patient, as temperature, pulse and respiration; as well as the weight & height of patient and record.
• Provides mouth care for bedridden patients and other patients who are unable to do it in the morning and evening and as needed under supervision of staff nurse.
• Responsible to change patient bed linen daily and as needed; as well as supervise and ensure cleanliness of patient environment as Patients bed, bedside table, Food trolley, Room.
• Assist staff nurse in giving bed bath to critical cases; prepare and assist patients who are able to take bath by themselves. Help in feeding elderly, children and others as needed.
• Changes patient position or help the staff nurse in doing so in critical cases.
• Assist staff nurses in nursing procedures as required.
• Responds to patient’s call (Call bell…) and inform staff nurse on patient request as needed.
• Gives orientation to the patients about the ward, room, usage of bed, bathroom, visiting hours…etc.
• Help in transferring patient from ward to ward /for any other area/ for investigation etc. or assist the nurse in such a situation. Provide bed pan and urinal for bed ridden patients.
• Has knowledge of infection control and procedures and implements it such as hand washing.
• Helps in procedures of admission, discharge and transfer of patients.
• Has ability to keep the confidentiality of patients and respect their culture and values.
• Helps staff nurses in the post mortem care of patients. Inform any unusual occurrences to the leader. Arrange for the cleanliness of treatment rooms and prepares the bed ready for dressing and other procedures.
• Helps Doctors in OPD under the supervision of Head Nurse/Group Leader; cleans and prepares all equipments for out-patient department. Helps in cleanliness and arrangement of stores and other areas in the unit. Need to be alert at work and accept to perform other responsibilities assigned by the supervisor which falls within his job responsibilities.
