Job Description

We currently have an opening for a detail-oriented, architecturally strong Network Engineer with a firm grasp on security concepts and practices.

Role and Responsibilities: 

  • Meet with both internal and client teams to support pre-sales activities 
  • Work with the sales, project management, and operations teams to define deliverables and timelines 
  • End-to-end support of network implementations from architecture and design through to implementation and maintenance 
  • Experiment with and evaluate new technologies 
  • Understand business problems to be solved, and provide technical direction and solutions during project discovery, definition and delivery 
  • Provide input on estimates for projects for all technical disciplines and involve other discipline leads where appropriate 
  • Ensure quality of all technical outputs meets or exceeds expectations 
  • Triage support requests and orchestrate resolution with the team 
  • Respond to first line customer requests via email, telephone or text 
  • Identify, reproduce, communicate and document bugs and common requests 
  • Keep the team aware of trends and major issues 
  • Ability to create and maintain as-built documents post projects 
  • Act as an escalation point for support of network and Firewall problems 
  • Contribute to training materials, site configuration and adoption tactics

Job Requirements

  • We are most interested in accomplishments and experience than lists of skills 
  • 4+ years of relevant experience in a customer-facing role 
  • 4+ years working with business grade Network / Security devices including vendors such as Cisco, Palo Alto, Juniper, FortiGate (We are not picky on your vendor preferences only that you have a strong fundamental understanding of Network Engineering / Support, have worked with multiple technology vendors and are a quick learner) 
  • Firm understanding of Windows Server, Microsoft services and backup / recovery technologies 
  • Comfortable working with a command line interface 
  • Understanding of network concepts in the virtualized environment (VMware and Hyper V) 
  • Strong Ability to troubleshoot large multi-vendor networks 
  • Effective communicator both verbal and written 
  • Rises to the challenge when working under pressure 
  • Ability to break complex issues down into management elements 
  • Experience working in a Plant / Manufacturing environment an asset 
  • Awareness of Security Standards such as NIST, NERC, PHIPPA and PCI DSS as they a relate to implementing IT Networks.
