PE Teacher

• We recognize and applaud your previous accomplishments and we encourage you to continue learning about teaching strategies and methodologies by enrolling in coursework and attending teacher professional development and training offered by the school.
• You will need to work with individuals and/or groups of students to help them in their learning.
• Recognize and take initiative when you see educational teaching moments while working with individuals or small groups.
• Refer parents to the classroom teacher in all matters relating to the students.
• Speaking with the parents is the responsibility of the teacher and not the teaching assistant.
• As AIS is an English speaking school, always use English in your conversations with students.
• Perform all duties without the teacher having to remind you.
• Follow school guidelines in terms of dress, being punctual, and attendance.

Job Conditions :

• Jeans are not to be worn during the school day, unless attending a field trip with the classroom.
• Please do not use mobile phones for personal business during the day when you are supposed to be working in the classroom or supervising children, Personal calls can be made during the break time or after dismissal.
• Follow the teacher’s instructions on photocopying and other tasks (sharpening pencils, cleaning and preparing materials for class, checking student bags, taking homework out of folders, etc.) and complete promptly so that they are ready when needed.
• Arrange with the teacher for the appropriate times to complete copying, cutting, bulletin board tasks.
• Do not do this work during times when you are meant to be working with the students.
• Treat the children with kindness and respect. If you don’t like to be yelled at then you should also not yell at the children.
• You should never physically grab or pull a student’s arm or body in punishment.
• Be firm and expect the students to follow the rules but respond to them in a calm and normal voice level.
• Be responsible for the safety of the children. This means watching and interacting with the children during their breaks and related arts classes.
• Assist teachers during change of classes. Teaching assistants will remain with the students during music, physical education, and computer classes.
• Teacher assistants are not required to remain with the students during art or Arabic classes.
• If you are going to be absent or arrive late to school, you must notify the teacher and Vice-Principal.
• If you know beforehand that you will be absent, you must fill-out a Request for Absence form ,Please note that failure to notify the teacher and the Vice-Principal will result in two days without pay.

We follow the attendance policy below:

• This is the same attendance policy for the foreign and Arabic teachers on the faculty.
• One personal day per school year with full pay
• 1-5 sick days per school year with full pay
• 6-10 sick days per school year with 25% reduction in pay
• 11-15 sick days per school year with 50% reduction in pay
• 16 plus sick days per school year with 100% reduction in pay
• Teaching assistants should arrive in the morning no later than 7:40 AM.
• You may leave the classroom at 3:45 to go to the bus on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. Wednesday is our faculty meeting day so you may leave the classroom at 4:15 to go to the bus. On Thursday, you may leave with the teachers at 3:15.
• There is a thirty-minute lunch break and a 15 minute break allowed each day at a time arranged with the classroom teacher.
• Please return to the classroom promptly at the time agreed upon with the teacher.
• Please remember we are all here for the students and you are a very important part of the students’ educational experience here at AIS.
