Qualifications
Under the Supervision of the Carpenter Lead or Supervisor the Carpenter SR performs carpentry tasks and supervises a small group of employees engaged in carpentry activities. A Carpenter SR is responsible for assuring that adequate supplies and materials are available to subordinates at the job site and that work proceeds in a proper and safe manner. In addition, the Carpenter SR interprets plans for subordinates and prepares detailed sketches of carpentry work.
Responsibilities
- Installs and repairs doors, windows, cabinets and shelving installs interior and exterior trim, cuts, fits and joins fiberboard, plywood, composition board.
- Installs and repairs siding, paneling, and dry wall.
- Installs resilient flooring; • Installs ceiling tile.
- Inspects structures to determine necessary repairs.
- Occasionally places reinforcing steel and pours concrete.
- May supervise and work with a small group of helpers.
- Uses hand and power tools to lay out, cut. Fit and join rough and finish lumber to construct, or repair wooden structures.
Qualifications
- Education / Certifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years continuous in Carpentry.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Carpentry trade certification not required.
- Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.
- Skills & Technology Used:
- Possess the technical skills to identify and repair different types of structures, such as Wood, Metal and concrete structures.
- Must have expert knowledge of equipment manuals for servicing or operating and repairing of equipment.
- Must have the ability to document and report inspections findings using pictures or required forms.
- Must be capable of working independently with little or no guidance.
- Must be detail oriented, have excellent time management skills, and have exceptional customer service skills.
- Working Environment
- Must be capable of working in an extreme weather condition with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, dry, duty, desert environment with average temperatures of 30 degrees in the winter and 130 degrees in the summer months).
- Physical Activities
- Strength to perform average lifting up to 35 pounds and occasionally over 70 pounds; body agility and equilibrium involved in activities such as climbing and balancing in precarious positions; arm, hand, and finger dexterity with both hands involved in activities such as reaching, handling, and feeling; good hearing ability; and good eyesight.
